Fireplace Cleaning Instructions
Cleaning your natural gas/propane vent-free fireplaces. This is a service that we offer to our customers. If you are not in our area, we highly recommend that you have your logs and burner sets cleaned twice a year to prevent malfunction and/or sooting. Here is how you can do it yourself:
- Turn off heater and allow cooling before cleaning.
- Disconnect electrical power before cleaning or servicing.
Remove logs, handling carefully by holding gently at each end. Use gloves to prevent skin irritation from ceramic fibers. Refer to parts diagram or contact us for location of items discussed below.
Do not use cleaning fluid to clean logs or any part of heater.
Brush logs with soft bristle brush or vacuum with brush attachment.
Vacuum loose particles and dust from the front and rear burner, control and piezo covers and grate weldment.
Inspect and clean burner air intake holes. Remove lint or particles with vacuum, brush or pipe cleaners. Failure to keep air intake holes clean will result in sooting and poor combustion.
External case should be dusted and wiped with a wet soapy cloth.
Refer to manual for correct log placement.
Also, always make sure that you have a working carbon monoxide detector present in your home.
